|
|
I received this lovely e-mail in my inbox today:
Quote: | Hello Michael B. Scrutchin,
It has come to our attention that invalid clicks have been generated on
the Google ads on your site(s). We have therefore disabled your Google
AdSense account. Please understand that this step was taken in an
effort to protect the interest of the AdWords advertisers.
A publisher's site may not have invalid clicks on any ad(s), including
but not limited to clicks generated by:
- a publisher on his own web pages
- a publisher encouraging others to click on his ads
- automated clicking programs or any other deceptive software
- a publisher altering any portion of the ad code or changing the
layout, behavior, targeting, or delivery of ads for any reason
Practices such as these are in violation of the Google AdSense Terms
and Conditions and program polices, which can be viewed at:
https://www.google.com/adsense/localized-terms?hl=en_US
https://www.google.com/adsense/policies?hl=en_US
Publishers disabled for invalid click activity are not allowed further
participation in AdSense and do not receive any further payment. The
earnings on your account will be properly returned to the affected
advertisers.
Sincerely,
The Google AdSense Team |
This comes near the end of the first period in which my account had enough money in it for them to send me a check. It wasn't a lot of money, but I certainly could have used it, especially since Amazon.com Associate earnings are so lousy these days that I've been dipping into my own pockets to keep this site running for the past year. I thought AdSense was gonna work, so I'm bummed. I obeyed all the rules, and I have no idea where the "invalid clicks" came from. And once you're banned from Google AdSense, you're banned for good.
Oh, well. Time to look for another solution.
(I'll never resort to big banners, full-page ads, or pop-ups. Never.) _________________ Michael Scrutchin

Huh. Is there any way for you to find out specifically what they viewed as "violations"? That letter sounds an awful lot like a teacher giving a paper an "F" but not including any comments about why. _________________ "When I was in Barcelona they showed pornography on regular television. Nah, they don't disclose such information. A Google search (heh) turned up hundreds of links in which other webmasters tell of receiving the same e-mail. From what I've read, once you're out, you're out, and they don't want to hear your defense (good luck on getting a reply from them, they say). Some webmasters say they received a warning before account termination, but Google didn't even grant me that.
In any case, Yahoo! is developing a similar service, which sounds promising and should be out soon. _________________ Michael Scrutchin

My appeal was denied.
Quote: | Hello,
Thank you for your appeal.
After receiving your response, we re-reviewed your account data
thoroughly. We have reconfirmed that invalid clicks were generated on the
ads on your site in violation of our Terms and Conditions and program
policies.
https://www.google.com/adsense/terms
https://www.google.com/adsense/policies
We have these policies in place to help ensure the effectiveness of Google
ads for our publishers as well as our advertisers. According to our policy
on this matter, we are unable to reinstate you into the program.
Please bear in mind that subsequent or duplicate appeals may not be
considered and you may not receive any further communication from us. We
appreciate your understanding.
Sincerely,
The Google AdSense Team |
Oh, well. That's that I guess. _________________ Michael Scrutchin

I saw you took up the Yahoo! ads.
I am tempted to try the program, but seeing as my site is all just individual .html files, if I wanted to put the code on every page, I would have to put it on every page. _________________ Danny Baldwin
