There's plenty I'm dying to see, but at the moment I'm excited for a Richard Linklater banner year: A Scanner Darkly and Fast Food Nation. _________________ "When I was in Barcelona they showed pornography on regular television. A Scanner Darkly is tops for me too. I'm looking forward to X-Men 3, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Pulse (although I'm equally dreading it), The Beast, I Kill, V for Vendetta, Lady in the Water (curse your brilliant potential, M Night!), Rendezvous With Rama, 30 Days of Night, The Woods, Bag of Bones, Slither, Conan: Red Nails, Silent Hill, Unknown White Male, and Fragile.
Dreading: The Fly remake (no wait, it'll actually be better than Cronenberg's, 'cause the Fly flies!) _________________ "If you're talking about censorship, and what things should be shown and what things shouldn't be shown, I've said that as an artist you have no social responsibility whatsoever."

One comedy I am looking forward to is: Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Stars Will Ferrell and it looks to be funny, hope it comes through. |

Oh, yeah. Snakes on a Plane. I'm really looking forward to it, but I have to wonder: Do you really need a movie to go with a title like that? _________________ "If you're talking about censorship, and what things should be shown and what things shouldn't be shown, I've said that as an artist you have no social responsibility whatsoever."

Have you seen the unofficial trailer?
Sam Jackson's dialogue is already classic:
"Enough is enough. I've had it with these snakes."
I'd been avoiding the Snakes on a Plane bandwagon, but that made me jump right onboard. Other 2006 releases I'm looking forward to: Silent Hill, The Descent, Wassup Rockers, Art School Confidential, Lady in the Water, A Scanner Darkly, Fast Food Nation, Miami Vice, The Science of Sleep, The Black Dahlia, For Your Consideration, Marie-Antoinette, and Grind House. _________________ Michael Scrutchin

I'd only recently heard about it, but the title makes me chuckle every time I see or hear it. I'm laughing gently to myself right now. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.
I'm also looking forward to Miami Vice. _________________ "If you're talking about censorship, and what things should be shown and what things shouldn't be shown, I've said that as an artist you have no social responsibility whatsoever."

It's been playing in Milwaukee for a few weeks already, but I still haven't seen Cache (Hidden). My other must-see is the Dardennes brothers' L'Enfant.
I'll add Lady in the Water, too, despite my growing disillusionment with Shyamalan's work. I'm rooting for the guy. _________________ "When I was in Barcelona they showed pornography on regular television. The Loft and Bug's House, Kiyoshi Kurosawa's next two horror films. The second is only relatively short, but I'm eager nonetheless.
Rinne, Takashi Shimizu's instalment in the J-Horror Theatre series. He also has The Grudge 2 and hopefully Parasyte (both English-language) coming out in 2006, and I'm keen to see both, but I doubt either of them will be as interesting as Rinne.
The Visiting, Oliver Hirschbiegel's English-language debut.
The Fragile, Balaguero's next. On Spanish DVD next week! |

Ah, Snakes on a Plane...
You just have to respect a film that had a re-shoot to include the line:
"I want these motherfucking snakes off this motherfucking plane." _________________ everybody knows that you only live a day/ but its brilliant anyway |

add united 93 to your lists of films to see. paul greengrass is a truly remarkable filmmaker. i could find fault with almost nothing. maybe i'll need to see it a second time to disect it, but it was truly one of the better made studio films i've seen in years. |

United 93 was a good movie. It was odd though because it didn't feel like a movie cause it was real personal. I don't I can't explain it, It was good though.
Anybody wanting to see The Fountain by Darren Aronofsky, that looks good. I also want to see Pirates of the Caribbean 2. |
