Just completed an 8-day movie race. The screening was Thursday night, and we came home with 3rd place and a $1000 prize for Robots are Blue. As always, you'll find it as the 1st news item at:

Congrats! Cool title, too. _________________ "When I was in Barcelona they showed pornography on regular television. I'm assuming it's the same way in Mexico since they also speak Spanish." - IMDb user comment |

I haven't watched it yet, but I will soon. I've got it bookmarked on my desktop.

I'm impressed. Considering the time and budget constraints, Robots Are Blue strikes me as an ambitious, clever, funny variation on the given "Know Thyself" theme. The basic premise may recycle ideas and questions from other films--while watching I thought about Bradbury and A.I. Artificial Intelligence, and I mean that as a compliment--but handles them with confidence. I also admired the gutsy decision to shift away from farce towards genuine sincerity--and Sebastian's convincing performance earns it. I liked it.

Thanks.
Yes, Bill did a great job. I tend to be one of his harshest critics, and this was another in a great string of performances before he heads off to La-La Land.
It was a careful line to walk in tone, weighing where we should be in terms of humor and sincerity. Bill managed to carry the appropriate note the length of the film. It's really easy to come across as heavy-handed in such a short time-frame, since all ideas have to be expressed with a certain degree of minimalism. _________________ Rattlesnake's Texas Cobra, you sonofabitch! |

"Robots Are Blue" is currently in competition at the Director's Cut online film fest.
Please visit this site and vote for your favorite film (uhh the one
about the robots) and very importantly, please send e-mails to friends
etc. to go there and vote too. Competition ends this month. Go Robots!
Don't forget to change the rating before voting by changing the # of
X's in the drop down box. It's a scale of X-XXXXX. XXXXX=excellent (so
that's the one to pick).

Robots is still hitting it hard, one year later. We've screened at a number of venues, with many more festival screenings in the near future.
You can keep up with all the info at http://www.robotsareblue.com

How YOU CAN HELP:
Please Vote for "Robots" to screen at the Academy
Please go to Now Casting Film Festival ( https://www.nowcasting.com/filmfestival/top25.php ) and vote for Robots Are Blue. We have been selected as a top 25 finalist. If we score high enough, we will screen at the Motion Picture Academy on June 7th.

Voting is easy. No sign up. No checking your e-mail to confirm. Only one thing: If you have pop-ups blocked, you may have to hold the Ctrl key down while placing your vote. Specifically, when you're looking at the movie, youll see a scale of 1-5 at the top right. Click on 5. A pop-up will appear asking Are you sure you want to cast this vote of 5? Of course you're sure. Hit OK. Very important: you should see another pop-up that says: Your vote has been casted for this entry! (Spelling is not mine.) If you don't see this window, you haven't voted. Try again. This time, hold Ctrl while clicking the OK button. A simple way to know: Close out the window with the quicktime, and try to vote again. Where the 1-5 scale once was, you should see A vote from this IP has already been cast. Youve done it! Thanks for the vote. Please spread the word. _________________ Rattlesnake's Texas Cobra, you sonofabitch! |

Casey, have you applied at the Milwaukee Film Festival? They always schedule multiple short film programs, and are accepting entries right now. _________________ "When I was in Barcelona they showed pornography on regular television. I'm unsure, since Bill does all the submissions for these. When is their deadline? _________________ Rattlesnake's Texas Cobra, you sonofabitch! |

Yeah, bad timing. If Bill hasn't already submitted to them through Without A Box, then I doubt it will happen. This is a VERY busy month for both of us. _________________ Rattlesnake's Texas Cobra, you sonofabitch! |
