|

Billy Wilder's Double Indemnity (which I still haven't seen but have been dying to) has been out of print for quite some time. The OOP Region 1 release has been going for more than $100 on eBay. But I just received a hint that a new DVD may be on the way. From Netflix:
---------------------
Dear Michael,
The movie in your queue:
Double Indemnity
has been moved to the DVDs Awaiting Release section. We no longer have enough copies to fill demand and this DVD is no longer being produced. A new version is being released later this year, and we will be buying additional copies at that time.
We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you find many other movies to enjoy on our web site.
Thank you,
The Netflix Team

That's great news, if it actually happens. I wonder who's releasing it. _________________ Michael Scrutchin

Double Indemnity is one of my favorite pictures, certainly one of the great American film noirs. I've probably seen it close to fifteen times, and the dialogue is always a pleasure to hear. (I've never seen a Wilder I didn't like at least a little.)

I'll probably buy it if it comes out indeed. I love film noir. |
