Whatcha gonna rent or buy?
I haven't seen any of the week's releases. I've added Bright Future, Dolls, and Dead End to my Netflix queue, but I'm thinking about checking out the Hong Kong thriller Koma, which I haven't heard much about. Anything anyone here would recommend? _________________ Michael Scrutchin

I'm going to rent Dolls and probably Woman Thou Art Loosed, if only because I have a particular interest in independent grass-roots success stories.
I'm going to buy Dead End--one of my favorite Wyler flicks, not to mention one my favorite Bogie roles--and maybe Come and Get It.

I'm most interested in seeing Fear X and Dead End. My Big Phat Hip Hop Family makes me weep for humanity. _________________ "If you're talking about censorship, and what things should be shown and what things shouldn't be shown, I've said that as an artist you have no social responsibility whatsoever."

You guys are losers for not mentioning Candy Land: The Great Lollipop Adventure!
Seriously, though, Stage Beauty looks pretty good, and I really, really liked Ladder 49 for what it was. _________________ Danny Baldwin

I don't have to watch it. I lived it, man. The Molasses Swamp haunts my dreams still. _________________ "If you're talking about censorship, and what things should be shown and what things shouldn't be shown, I've said that as an artist you have no social responsibility whatsoever."

Mr. B-
Ladder 49 was selling like hotcakes tonight, just as I suspected. We sold out at about 7:00 PM. That's quite a feat for a floundering movie rental store. _________________ www.myspace.com/jordanmuehlbauer |

We had friends over and spent the evening on a comedy double feature: Napolean Dynamite and Shaun of the Dead. Both were second viewings for me, and while ND gained in stature, SD lost a little luster. Still, both are terrific entertainments.
