Hello, everyone. I used to post here as The Ringbearer, but after a few Log In problems, I'm back and better (so to speak) than ever. I have admired this critique site (and especially the forums and the intelligent individuals posting on them) for some time and would like to contribute whatever I can. I propose to be honest - hence the username, as intelligent as my mind allows me to be, and kind to any and every person who shows kindness to me. To start off, I'd like to list some of my most favored, most personal films. Keep in mind I'm 18 years of age and have not seen nearly the amount of films as I hope to in the oncoming years and while I'm versed in the history of cinema somewhat, I am by no stretch of the means an 'expert.' Anyway, here's the list in no particular order:

The Lord of the Rings (2001-2003/Jackson)

Akira (1988/Otomo)

Grave of the Fireflies (1988/Takahata)

Taxi Driver (1976/Scorsese)

Mulholland Dr. (2001/Lynch)

Citizen Kane (1941/Welles)

Lawrence of Arabia (1972/Lean)

As well as all the Kubrick, Miyazaki, and Cameron (although I have some serious reservations regarding The Abyss) I have seen thusfar in my lifetime.

This is by no means a definitive list, and it is late so I'm sure I'm leaving many just as worthy films unmentioned. I know my choices lean towards the more popular, and I assure you they have been shred apart by other film buffs on more than one occasion. But, like I said, I try to be brutally honest and any questions regarding me, my tastes, or the choices on my list (as well as criticism) would be appreciated. I hope my time here is pleasant time well-spent, and I hope I don't clog the site with any ignorance I might have. Peace! Very Happy

Welcome back! Good list, although I'm embarrassed to admit I have yet to see Lawerence of Arabia and Grave of the Fireflies. I have no excuse, especially since a friend let me borrow Grave. The same day another friend loaned me Pieces. I watched that one.

Linda Day's "Bastard!" scene almost made it worth watching for me. Almost. And only an Italian could have managed such a non sequitur in the denouement.

Let's just say that if it had no nudity or bloodletting it would have stood a good chance of appearing on a certain TV show and been accompanied by the small sillhouettes of a man and two robots at the bottom of the screen.

Hmm. . . I might be skipping this then. Unless, of course, the nudity and bloodletting are worth it. Wink
