Pat, you have a bright future as a shill.
My favorite is Inarritu's Powder Keg, which anticipates the same jagged cinematography that mark the director's features. I also really like Carnahan's well-acted Ticker, mostly because it's about sacrifice and duty at least as much as BMW. John Woo's Hostage presents a very good case for Clive Owen to take over as James Bond, and I adore the lyricism of Wong Kar-Wai's The Follow--it feels exactly like a Wong picture, especially in terms of how music propels the imagery.
Worst of the bunch? Tony Scott's tacky, frenetic, hammy Beat the Devil, which equates hollow flourishes with "hip." Almost as bad is Guy Ritchie's Star. (Sorry, Pat.) Madonna overplays--her nastiness never seems real, coming across mainly as a knowing wink at her own celebrity--and Ritchie, as usual, directs with a crude sledgehammer.

Only one I've seen was John Woo's BMW movie; I'd like to see Wong Kar-Wai's.

Ill Shill you beltmann *shaking angry fist* and the name Campbell doesnt mean crooked mouth for nothing, it's my etymological (use that one in class b dawg lol) duty to stir enthusiasm through my own.
I agree Beat the Devil wasn't that great and I only like "star" because of the idea of the film, it's madonna, you can expect it to be overplayed, it was kind of witty though lol.

I've seen most of them and I agree with Beltmann that the best one is probably "Powder Keg". I also liked Woo's "Hostage" and (I'm going to get flamed for this) Ritchie's "Star" mainly for its lighter tone as compared to the other films. I really can't stand Madonna though.
