Sounds like you guys had great experiences, very different from my own.

Every morning, Sergei, my new Russian bride, wakes me by pouring a bucket of scalding water on my back. I try to turn my head, hoping to drink some of it, knowing that it's cleaner now than when I am forced to lap it up from the stable floor, while Sergei calls in our adoptive teenage children, Ivan and Viktor to "look at what the pig bitch is doing." Viktor, who hopes to one day play professional soccer, then begins his leg strengthening exercises, wherein he kicks me about the head and groin until I pass out.

After nap time, Ivan, who has a kind heart, will slide a tray of food just out of my reach. He laughs when the shackles cut into my skin, telling me I can "pay for it in flesh, whore." This will last about half an hour, at which point Ivan will gently kick the tray towards my face. I hope the harsh realities of this world never touch the light in his heart.

Thanks to Sergei's work as a butcher, I'm well-fed, getting my pick of all the animal portions that the dogs won't eat. Though the contours of my ribs are quite visible now, I'm still fairing better than Sergei's last husband, Rusty - or "Tatyana", as he lovingly refers to him - whose unutilized parts are buried in a shallow grave one pen over. Sergei celebrated their anniversary last week with a drinking binge, during which he dug up what appeared to be one of "Tatyana's" occipitals, shoved it in my mouth and screamed "This Is You! This Is You!" before passing out in his own urine.

I think it's safe to say the honeymoon is over.
