I happened to be in Rome, under the hot sun, visiting places like the Piazza D'Espagna, Piazza Navona, St Pietro and admiring several works of art like Michelangelo's colossal Sistine Chapel or his statue of the Virgin Mary and Jesus; by the by, I also had various ice creams -- raspberry and chocolate being my favourites -- and ate lots of lasagne, margherita pizza, ravioli and "Fileto al pepe verde", as they say. I saw the Pope, went up to St Pietro's dome, saw the excellence of various art works and all, in all, had a fun week.
I also met a truly wonderful girl in the catacombs. But, I probably will never see her again.
Ah, that was a wonderful holiday. |

And about the girl:
She was very, very pretty. But, the thing is, she now lives in Chile. Me, I'm here in England, but I told her that I used to live in Madrid, Spain, and I found out that she actually lived quite near my house in Spain. I don't know if she'll ever move there again [I'm moving back to Spain in July].
And no, I don't have her phone number, address or anything. I only saw her for about 15 minutes, talked to her and whatnot, but that was enough to make me realise that she really meant something special to me. I can't stop thinking about her, and yet I doubt I'll ever see or talk to her again.
I met her in the catacombs of Rome -- what a romantic place, eh? No, really, falling in love in an underground graveyard is quite ironic -- and she belonged to some Christian group which was all made up of girls; I was like, the only boy there. I've sent an e-mail to the website of such organisation, asking for a contact number. I'm hoping to talk to the guide or something of the sort, and talk to Eleni [that was the girl's name].
Ah well, I hope. I'm nothing but a dreamer, as they say. |
