Well, here it is:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/newline/thetexaschainsawmassacre/
It doesn't look bad as I thought it would. Hell, it's gotta be better than Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, right? It looks like it might be on par with Wrong Turn at least. I'm not hoping for a bona fide masterpiece like the original, just a forgettable thrill ride.
And may I point out:
Rated R for strong horror violence/gore, language and drug content.
While I'd heard rumors of producer Michael Bay (yes, that Michael Bay) striving for a PG-13 rating, we should remember that Tobe Hooper and co. were trying for a PG rating with the original. In any event, Hooper's Texas Chainsaw Massacre isn't nearly as violent or gory as its reputation suggests.
Anyone have any thoughts about the original or the remake? _________________ Michael Scrutchin

Definitely doesn't look terrible...but it does look relatively flat. _________________ Danny Baldwin

Hmmm... It may not suck, but it's definitely going to be a mainstream, pop culture, teeny-bopper, latter-day slasher flick. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was a horror movie. This looks like it respects the original, what with some of the shots it reproduces (nice photography, btw), and the sound of the flashbulbs, but the best it can be is tribute. And, yeah, there ain't much that can be worse than TCM:NG. Sweet merciful jeebus, what were they thinking with that one? |

It does look really slick -- a lot different than the gritty, rough cinematography of the original. Ironically, Daniel Pearl is the director of photography of the original Texas Chainsaw and this new one! _________________ Michael Scrutchin

im a pretty big fan of the first leatherface....off the record (and the 2nd).
i have been wanting to check out this new one and it is probably worth a watch.
i thought they made the closing half of the trailer a bit high on the epic scale. legendary music and all.
hah. good stuff.

ha, TCM- the next generation.
I bought that for $1.50 AU, I still think I was ripped off.
I loved the original, only recently bought the uncut version.
Very powerful, I love the way leatherface runs everywhere as opposed
to the slow crawl most horror villians attack at. I enjoyed 'Long time dead' for that same reason.
I think the most disturbing scene in TCM is the scene where the grandfathers trying to hit that girls head with the mallet, and leatherface is assisting.

Personally, I think the trailer is the best one in theaters right now. Except for the part that mentions "Michael Bay" of course. _________________ "Film lovers are sick people."

Scariest part of the trailer, that. _________________ "If you're talking about censorship, and what things should be shown and what things shouldn't be shown, I've said that as an artist you have no social responsibility whatsoever."
