I can't believe this. I really can't.

"Metallica-branded chords"?!
Well, at least this other band is getting a lot of publicity out of this. I just hope they aren't successfully sued! _________________ Michael Scrutchin

Metallica's press release reads like a deleted scene from This Is Spinal Tap. Has Lars Ulrich become a real-life Nigel Tufnel?

It's actually a pretty convincing gag. Completely ridiculous, sure, but with Lars and Metallica do you ever really know? I fell for it at first. I didn't even realize it wasn't actually MTV.com until I began posting the link in the above message. I've been punk'd!

Are you guys this gullible? This was a joke story posted on the Internet some time ago, even the Bob and Tom show acknowledged this on their show a while back. |

This thread is from over a month ago, when it first appeared online. Many online news sites fell for it and so did a few late-night talk shows, delivering this "news" as the truth, unaware that it was a joke. Plenty of people fell for it. I think it says more about people's perception of Lars and Metallica than it does about our gullibility. To my credit, I realized it was a hoax about half an hour after I read about it, just as I started this thread. _________________ Michael Scrutchin

I realized this was a hoax as soon as I read the article. I thought my initial post ("Has Lars Ulrich become a real-life Nigel Tufnel?") made that clear by alluding to This Is Spinal Tap, a movie that is a fake documentary. Perhaps jboy failed to grasp my reference?
