What do you know about this project? All I've been able to gather is that Tim Burton is directing it, Johnny Depp will be Wonka, and it's tentatively set to be released in June 2005.
Who's going to play Charlie Bucket?
I also understand that this is not a remake of the original Willy Wonka, but rather a more literal translation of the book. Anything else I need to know? I'm rather anxious for the release of this film, because I love the already existing Wonka film so much, as well as Burton and Depp.

The original has always been one of my all-time favorites, and even though Burton and Depp are amazing talents, I can't see this one working out. _________________ Danny Baldwin

I'm hoping for the best. While I'm not huge fan of Burton's work as a whole, I think he capable of some great stuff, provided he's obligated to follow a solid storyline. I really can't wait to see Depp as Wonka. I didn't think anyone could replace Gene Wilder, but when I heard Depp's name in conjuction with the film I changed my mind. _________________ "If you're talking about censorship, and what things should be shown and what things shouldn't be shown, I've said that as an artist you have no social responsibility whatsoever."

I haven't seen the original nor read the book, for that matter. But seeing Burton and Depp work together again gets me very excited -- they are, after all, two of the greatest duos working nowadays. |

Not including Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller, right? _________________ "If you're talking about censorship, and what things should be shown and what things shouldn't be shown, I've said that as an artist you have no social responsibility whatsoever."

I'm jusy wondering, but lately I've been seeing this many times... what's people's obsession with spelling "hot" with two Ts? Is it the "in-thing" to say/type at the moment? Did I miss something? |

oh please.. you are wrong.. "hott" is when talking about someone of the opposite sex being attractive (or the same sex if that's your thing).. and "hot" is like "wow, these bananas in hot chocolate milk are really hot" and "hawt" is no way to spell anything! Boy, that brings back memories. My relatives in Michigan say, "Holy wah!" _________________ "If you're talking about censorship, and what things should be shown and what things shouldn't be shown, I've said that as an artist you have no social responsibility whatsoever."

This new lingo doesn't interest me. I'm trying to revive "old boy," "banana oil" and "coolage."
