See the Yahoo! News story.
"Hurt" always had more meaning and resonance with Cash than it ever did with Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails, but now the song and video is more powerful than ever. I can't watch it without being moved to tears. _________________ Michael Scrutchin

"Hurt" was always my favorite NIN song (not that I'm a tremendous fan), but I think I agree that Cash's version is superior, perhaps even more haunting--I haven't been able to stop listening to it for months.

Best ever? I dunno, man. Have you heard "Toxic" by Britney Spears?

On a related note, I emailed "Hurt" director Mark Romanek (who also helmed One Hour Photo with Robin Williams) way back in early 2003 when I first saw the video. Just singing its praises basically. He responded, and we exchanged another couple of emails. He seems to be a super-nice guy. I was just pleasantly surprised that he took the time to respond to some run-of-the-mill gushing about the "Hurt" video in the first place.
I've been listening to a lot of Johnny Cash lately. The Essential Johnny Cash is a terrific collection for anyone who doesn't have the cash to shell out for all the individual albums (although At Folsom Prision is essential). Doesn't have anything from the American Recordings albums, though. _________________ Michael Scrutchin
