I'm in awe:

Boy, I wish I had a few thousand dollars to spend right now. Sure, my G4 is nice and all, but that dual 2GHz G5 is just amazing. By the way, my birthday is July 7 (hint, hint).

Michael,
Do you know when they're releasing it for Power Books (if they are going to). I might wait on buying mine if it's anytime soon. I'm not really very firmiliar with Apple right now, but I did learn on one. _________________ Danny Baldwin

Hey, Danny. Sorry to say, the G5 won't make it to the PowerBook anytime soon, according to a news article at MacCentral:
------------------------------
Apple's renewed relationship with IBM doesn't mean that Motorola will be going away anytime soon. In fact, Apple will keep one G4-based configuration around for as long as the market demands. The G4 model will sell for $1299 directly from Apple.
"Motorola is huge for us," said Joswiak. "Our partnership with Motorola is not going away, G4s are in every other part of our product line. As you can see, [the G5] is not going in a PowerBook anytime soon. Motorola remains very important to us, but IBM is the one that can take us to the next level."
------------------------------
Still, the G4 PowerBooks are very nice. _________________ Michael Scrutchin

They are beautiful!
I'm not having too much of a problem squashing my impulse to go out and nab one--my G4 933 Quicksiler is still running just fine and I hate to buy a new model of computer until there's been at least one revison or two. My first generation B & W G3 had a number of FieWire issues and I set an eMac lab up for a non-profit group that had a few CRT issues.
Trust me, Mike--you'll be better off buying one a year or so from now. Any little problems will have been fixed, the chip speed will be ramped up considerably and the new RAM prices will have dropped.
Can you imagine having 8 GB (!) of RAM???? |

Yeah, that's true. And I can't imagine having 8GB of RAM. That's insane! _________________ Michael Scrutchin
