Weeks was killing the ball in Nashville to the tune of .320/.435/.655. He doesn't even have to come anywhere near that to be a great player.
Right now, he just needs to focus on getting on base and performing acceptable defense. He's a rookie. Everything else will come in time. _________________ Rattlesnake's Texas Cobra, you sonofabitch! |

4 in a row. Tonight was especially fun, as both Weeks and Fielder had their first career home runs; Fielder's 3-run shot ended up being the GW hit. The Crew's been playing with some heart, and beating some good teams. Let's just keep marching towards that .500 mark.

I've been hanging on every pitch the last two weeks, praying for a winning (or at least even) season. As of this morning, the Crew is one game under. After 12 straight losing seasons, I think a .500 record would mean infinitely more to Brewers fans than yet another World Series victory would mean to Yankees fans.
Other than Rickie Weeks' glaring flaws as a fielder, I'm feeling pretty good about the young 'uns. Prince Fielder of course presents a dilemma regarding Lyle Overbay, but I suppose most teams would be happy to have such a dilemma. Since Overbay has been such a likable, dependable, integral piece of the Brewers' recent (relative) success, it's sad to concede that there just isn't room for him in the organization's plans. (If we were still in the AL, Fielder could just DH.)
For the first time since '92, there's genuine reason to be hopeful as a Brewers fan.

81-79 tonight after pulling out 4 runs in the 7th to get the win. 1 more win and they are above .500. Looking good for the Brewers |

Beat me to it, kaestner. This is what I was about to post:
I'm feeling all fuzzy inside.
The Brewers just rallied from 5-1 in the 5th to beat Pittsburgh 6-5, which is a landmark victory--it ensures that the Crew will at least break even, snapping a streak of 12 straight losing seasons.
They've won 8 of their last 11. Now they must win 1 of the remaining 2 to have their first winning season since '92.
(And the Red Sox beat the Yankees tonight. It's all tied up.)

And sadly, the Yanks beat the Sox today, clinching the AL East. A Boston win or Indian loss tomorrow clinches the Wild Card though. |

Last game of the season starts in 5 minutes. Apaprently Yost has scratched Helling in favor of Capuano throwing on short rest... which seems like a mistake, considering how shaky Cappy's last few outings have been and how surprisingly dominant Helling's have been.
Gotta win today. A loss means the team breaks even; a victory means a winning season. It may only be a single game difference, but there's still a huge psychological gulf between them.
