Nicholas Nickleby (McGrath, 2003)

School of Rock (Linklater, 2003)

Nowhere in Africa (Link, 2001)

Sweet Sixteen (Loach, 2002)

Day of the Dead (Romero, 1985)

Heaven (Tykwer, 2002)

Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist (Dick, 1997)

Mad City (Costa-Gavras, 1997)

Of those, I?d highly recommend School of Rock and Sweet Sixteen. I loathed Versus?repetitive, utterly lacking in a unique style; virtually nothing happens but tedious physical injury?and Day of the Dead seemed to betray everything that made the first two entries worthwhile. I haven?t made up my mind about Sick, but I know I was simultaneously appalled and moved. Has anyone else seen it?

Motel Hell - I was expecting more graphic violence, was dissapointed

Evil Dead - classic

I had been recommended this movie and heard a lot

of good things. I just didnt get into it.

That whole voice box thing was kinda creepy.

That's cool, Michael - for me, "Lost in Translation" is also number two so far on my 2003 list, after "All the Real Girls" at number one. Hmm! ("Capturing the Friedmans" and "Winged Migration" follow at three and four...) I saw "The Rundown" yesterday; I think I'm in the minority in really not liking it. The Rock is very likable, but the movie is sort of annoying.

Well, "Anger Management" and "Sgt. Kabukiman" were really genuinely terrible (I like Adam Sandler a lot, but nothing could help "Anger Management"; Nicholson is worse than I've ever seen him). "Thirteen" was okay, a bit overrated I think. I enjoyed "School of Rock" and "The Battle of Algiers"; "Wings of Desire," "Rio Bravo," and "Aguirre, the Wrath of God" I all really loved.

Wings of Desire is a great movie. The only other Wenders movie I've seen is Until the End of the World, which I liked a lot even though I found it overlong and unfocused. Where did you get ahold of the Milies movie? I've only seen snatches of some of them, and would love to watch them all the way through.
