The Guinea Pig series is an almost total waste of time, in my humble opinion. I own them all, for one reason or another. Don't be fooled into thinking Flowers of Flesh and Blood is the best, because frankly it's the cinematic equivalent of watching paint dry. At least Mermaid in a Manhole has something happening in it.
I might well acquire the double disc Media Blasters edition of Zombie at some point in the near future. I've grown to love the film over the years. I was instantly entranced by the Beyond, but I did pretty much hate Zombie when I first saw it. I still cringe when the shot of Ian McCulloch (who's also in Freddie Francis' underrated film, The Ghoul, fact fans) throwing firebombs is repeated several times, but there's much to enjoy there, and plenty of evidence that Fulci could really score when he actually put the effort in. Top film, and easily the best of the European post-Dawn of the Dead efforts. |

Thanks for your input and thoughts. For me, THE BEYOND is the best Fulci I've seen so far. Apparently, the Media Blasters double disc was delayed until August 3rd for some reason. I was thinking of picking up the Blue Underground CONQUEST release along with ZOMBI, but it sounds pretty ridiculous. Have you seen it, by any chance?

I haven't seen it, pretty much for the reasons you mention. I'm not a big sword'n'sorcery fan, and the prospect of a characteristically cheap Fulci version doesn't thrill me too much  . |

Exactly. I was very surprised when I read the premise... I won't give it a blind buy, but it's going on the Netflix list!
