The Lollapalooza webcast re-sparked my interest in Sleater-Kinney... I had forgotten how much I like The Woods.

Have you listened to their other stuff yet?

The Woods was the first Sleater-Kinney album I heard, and now I own their entire discography. My favorite album would probably be either Call the Doctor or Dig Me Out, but One Beat and The Woods aren't far behind. I'm bummed that I never got to see them live.

Ben Harper - Both Sides of the Gun (2006)

This is a pretty good two disc album. Harper's influences are clearly present, especially on disc 2. Some of the songs on disc 2 remind me of 70s rock bands like the Rolling Stones.

Redwalls - De Nova

Josh, you might like the sound of this Chicago band... very reminiscent of the Beatles or The Band.

Camera Obscura - Let's Get Out of This Country

This is pretty decent stuff. Have you heard it yet, Michael?

If you liked Ward's last album, Transistor Radio, this is more of the same. To me, that's a very good thing.

My wife and I have tickets for Ward's show in Milwaukee two weeks from now.

Everyone says it sounds a lot like Time Out of Mind and Love and Theft, and it sure does. I'm steadily becoming a convert.

I've been a Dylan fan since 2002; glad to see you're warming up to him.

Favorite tracks on Modern Times so far: "Workingman's Blues #2" and "Nettie Moore."

I picked up my copy at Best Buy (with the free exclusive career-spanning album-cover booklet), but at Circuit City, if you buy another Dylan CD along with Modern Times, you get a free CD of his XM satellite radio show, "Theme Time Radio Hour with Bob Dylan." That show's theme is baseball, and "Joe DiMaggio Done It Again" from Mermaid Avenue Vol. II is among the songs Dylan chose for the playlist. I'd really like to hear it.

I'm starting to become a convert myself. This is a pretty good album.

Marah - Kids In Philly

I loved last year's If You Didn't Laugh You'd Cry, and finally got around to picking up this earlier album. Upon first listen, it completely rocks. (Word is that a Marah live DVD is forthcoming.)

Josh and Michael, especially, check out the first track here (I'll delete in a few days):

The Good Life - Album of the Year

I've never liked Cursive, but this side project by Tim Kasher sounds pretty good. Big thanks to the former student who sent it to me.

I've always liked Cursive, but I've never checked out the Good Life for some reason. I should rectify that.

I've always loved Album of the Year.

Beltmann, you should check out the acoustic demos of the album.

I actually like some of the songs better with just Tim and a guitar than with the full production.
