Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary
Can't believe the lousy local record shop actually had a copy. I'm stunned. _________________ "When I was in Barcelona they showed pornography on regular television. I'm assuming it's the same way in Mexico since they also speak Spanish." - IMDb user comment |

I've been meaning to pick up the Wolf Parade CD; I'm surprised that my local Best Buy has it.
I've been listening to two great CDs for the past few days:
My Morning Jacket's Z and the self-titled Broken Social Scene, easily two of my favorites of the year. _________________ Michael Scrutchin

My Morning Jacket is definitely one of my favorite records of the year. I've also been meaning to check out Broken Social Scene, a band I've heard many good things about but have never heard anything by. _________________ "When I was in Barcelona they showed pornography on regular television. Wilco, Kicking Television: Live in Chicago. It's out today, and it's good. Have you picked it up yet, Eric? _________________ Michael Scrutchin

Not yet. The local shop has it for 21.99, so I'm going to buy it elsewhere. I'll be in Milwaukee over the weekend, so I'll probably stop at Best Buy, where it's 14.99.
Did you notice that the Wilco website put up a video of "Kicking Television" from the scrapped DVD? I'm pretty sure you can see me near the end, when the camera quickly pans the front row.

This sounds fantastic.
This afternoon I also picked up the Wilco live CD, 14.99 at Best Buy plus discounted another 1.50 with coupon. You already know how I feel about it.

Socratic Lunch For The Sky
I heard of this band from my friend who lives in Madison and after listening to their album I decided to catch their show at the student union in Madison last night. Good stuff, and the keyboardist is insane...literally.

I just got into that one, too, after passing it by these last few years.
Whatcha think of the Broken Social Scene album? I'm not quite as enamored with it now as I was at first, but I still dig it a lot. It's insanely erratic, but there are only a few tracks I don't care for. My favorites are probably "7/4 (Shoreline)," "Windsurfing Nation," and "Superconnected." _________________ Michael Scrutchin

Truthfully, I haven't been able to stop playing Aeroplane, which means I've only given Broken Social Scene one listen through, so the jury's still out. My initial snap impression was positive, but I wasn't blown away.
I found it on sale Saturday at Best Buy for 9.99, and it came packaged with the 7-song To Be You and Me EP, so that was a pretty darn good deal.
