Beck, Mutations.
Other than that, I've finally gotten deep into the massive collection of Wilco/Golden Smog/Uncle Tupelo rarities that Mr. Beltmann so kindly bestowed upon me. There is some fantastic stuff in this collection. _________________ www.myspace.com/jordanmuehlbauer |

Bottle Rockets - 24 Hours a Day
Recommended to me by a friend, who wants me to catch them in Madison next weekend. Just started listening now.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Playback (1995)
Showing just how deep Tom Petty's catalog goes, this boxset showcases Tom's unreleased tracks from his two bands: Mudcrutch and the Heartbreakers. Great addition, esp. for diehard Petty fans like me. _________________ My aim is to put down on paper what I see and what I feel in the best and simplest way.

New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
Most of you know I'm a huge fan of A.C. Newman and the NPs, so it's no surprise for me to admit that today's release had been one of my most eagerly anticipated releases of the year. What is surprising, though, is that Metacritic lists Twin Cinema's score as 91--tied with Sufjan Stevens for Number One Best Reviewed Album of the year so far. Even crazier, my crappy local record shop actually had a few copies. Glad to see the band getting the attention they deserve.
I also picked up Neil Young's Harvest, and that same shop even had a sole copy of Jay Farrar's 2003 Terroir Blues, which is inexplicable on several levels. Of course, now they have no copies.

That's tough. Maybe "Jumpers," "Modern Girl," or "Entertain," but the whole thing rocks.
I've been listening the new Black Rebel Motorcycle Club album, Howl, and I'm really digging it. A lot of fans seem to be disappointed in the change of direction (I'm new to their stuff), but to me it sounds like what might have happened if The Jesus and Mary Chain had recorded an acoustic blues- and gospel-tinged Americana record, if that makes any sense. In any case, I like. _________________ Michael Scrutchin

Eric Clapton - Back Home
Even though it's nowhere near near his best, it's still a decent blues album. Speaking of Clapton, I can't wait until the Cream reunion concerts come to dvd and cd in October. _________________ My aim is to put down on paper what I see and what I feel in the best and simplest way.

You've been taking too much advice from Kliner, Josh. I'll overlook this today, but I do not want you bringing McCartney in here.

Picture me saying the opposite of that and it'll save me the effort. _________________ Danny Baldwin
