I agree. The cool quotient of "angst" gets me down; usually angst is just a nifty name for self-absorption and self-pity. We frequently need to re-position our perspectives. As bad as life sometimes seems, the truth is that most of us in America--and other civilized Western nations--are unreasonably fortunate. We could be living in a hut in Tibet, suffering from river blindness, right? Angst is a luxury found in privileged societies.

Well, you can't be too angstful (a word?) if you spend sunup to sundown slaving away for a few dollars a day at some job. The few times in my life I did have to work 60-80 hours a week, I was too tired to be depressed. Kind of ironic, to be rich enough to hate your life. |

| my parents go either way depending on their mood, which im sure is true of any parent. my parents are great when it comes to providing for me and i think i take for granted a lot that they do for me (i know mr. b, a banned word) but i really do appreciate it. there are certain things my parents do that i really dont like, such as never letting me hang out with my friends when i want to, but they usually make up for it later. my parents arent all bad and i like them a lot! |

Back to the subject of misery and hate. I think everyone's life goal should be to be miserable. Then we'd all succeed very easily. Althought...that might make us happy...which would mean we actually failed our goal.
Well that's that, I'm done setting goals.
